Well. We’re still Airbnb-ing it, which makes the deep dive, detailed sort of planning and goals assessment…
Difficult.
I’m doing my best y’all.

- Lol. No.
- Send Newsletter
- Yes! It even went out on time!

- No? But also yes. You see, we had to push it back a week due to a migraine, but it’s recorded and will be released soon!

- Yes. That is technically true.
Weekly(ish) Word Count: 1,540
Without my whiteboard, the word count thing is a bit trickier to track. I’ve done a bit of math – which is never recommended – and this is what I came up with. Its accuracy is suspect, but I’m running with it.
I did a bit of reading over the last couple weeks, though not much. I mostly played Dredge and tried to relax as much as possible.
Honorable Mentions
The last weekend of March kicked off a basically non-stop month of writing related activities. Thanks to a scholarship from Willamette Writers I was able to attend the inaugural Soma Games Writing Retreat. It was a two day video game writing conference held in Newberg, a gorgeous little city in the heart of Oregon wine country. I got to hang out with my former mentor Wendy N. Wagner, her friend Rachel, and fellow Willamette Writer volunteer Tracy Hoagland while we learned about narrative design in video games. It was a ton of fun!
Then Trevor and I packed up and drove to Seattle with my good friends Laura and Dale for Norwescon! While it wasn’t exactly Trev’s cup of tea, it was a ton of fun for us more writerly types. We ran into friends old and new, played some intense Science Fiction/Fantasy Pub Trivia (according to the host we were a “solid 7th”), and talked all things Speculative Fiction for the better part of four days.
And while it was a blast, I am profoundly tired.

It’s prom week at work. Normally that would be enough to stress me out, but I’ve also got some bargaining meetings for our union and spirit days to try and dress up for. Which is basically impossible when you’re dressing from one half of a duffel bag.
So, yeah. There’s that. The good news is that – if memory serves – this episode of the podcast doesn’t require much editing. You can expect it up on Friday.
I’m going to start reading Some Desperate Glory by Emily Tesh today. We’ll see how it goes, though I have high hopes. It’s getting compared to Mass Effect a lot, so I’m automatically interested.
And as for writing… I don’t know man. I think my brain is really struggling to feel grounded enough to write. But, I reread a portion of the book yesterday and really liked it. I definitely don’t think I can trust my feelings about the project at the moment. Which means I should probably just buckle down and write the damn thing.
Ugh. I guess.
I’ll be back tomorrow to talk about March/April goals. Until then, Bloggos!
