Yes, this post is on time. No, it is not a miracle. My weekend was actually fairly normal, and it was so, so so so nice. What isn’t normal is that I have a little bit of news to share before we dive into the meat of this Goals Summary.
Announcement!
IT’S RELEASE DAY, babeyy!
You can read my short story “In the Librarian’s Garden” TODAY at Tree and Stone Magazine! A quiet story about finding yourself and your true home, it holds a very precious space in my heart. I really hope you enjoy it.
You can read it (and other stories) online here. (It officially releases later this afternoon. I’ll post on socials about it.)
Or, you can support a young magazine and buy an ebook copy here.
Thanks so much for your support, and for reading!
And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

How'd I Do?
- Write 3x this week
- Nope.
- Read a #StoryADay
- Yep!
- Get outside
- Nope. But there were some warmer, sunny days and I made sure to get the windows down on my drives home.
- Read a book
- Yep! According to Goodreads I read THREE books last week! Hurray Graphic Novels!
Weekly Word Count: 1,579
Not gonna lie, I’m struggling to look back at the week with anything even close to clarity. It was a blur, with a lot of emotional overwhelm as we dealt with the house and car news. I know I wrote a bit on a short story and a little bit more on the novel, and that I binged the newest Dragon Age comics and the new volume of The Adventure Zone graphic novels.
But there are a couple standouts I want to share…
Honorable Mentions
The biggest thing from last week was the cover and release date reveal for Saltwater Sorrows! If you missed all the fun on twitter, here’s the details:
Deep, mysterious, beautiful . . . dangerous . . .
Women and the sea have been tied together in myth and story from the beginning of time. Tales of women being drawn to the sea or being left on the shore, waiting for their men’s return, have been passed down through the ages.
But what mysteries lie beneath the sparkling placid waters? What power drives the wind and waves crashing against the shore? There is transformation and exaltation—magic—in the ocean and women alike. And both know that while the sea gives, the sea also takes.
Sink into the icy depths of the ocean with these stories by: E.E. King; Natalie Cannon; Morgan Melhuish; Paul A. Hamilton; Laura VanArendonk Baugh; Sarah Van Goethem; Adria Laycraft; Dino Parenti; B. Zelkovich; Lisa Carreiro; Lea Storry; Nikoline Kaiser; Elin Olausson; Chandra Fisher; Hayley Stone; V.F. LeSann; Catherine MacLeod; and Jennifer R. Donohue.
Have you pre-ordered it yet?
So, What's Next?
- Write 3x
- #StoryADay
- Read a book
- Return to Routine
After an utter derailment these past two weeks, I’m ready to buckle down and get back to business. There’s only one week left until spring break (?!) and I need to write… ~7,000 words this week?
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Ok. We all know that isn’t going to happen. But 5k might. Point is, I need to make some serious strides with the manuscript before I’m set free for a week and try to finish the damn thing. We’ll see how it goes.
I will be back on Wednesday with a new edition of Outings! so be on the look out for that, and maybe, if I’ve got time/motivation, I might actually write and post that querying blog post I’ve been muttering about.
Until then, Blogland.
