The weather finally broke! Summer is over and Fall is here with a vengeance. Today’s walk was a bit frigid and windy and the fall colors are everywhere. And, best of all? It RAINED! It’s finally autumn and just in time for Halloween!
Hurray!

How'd I Do?
- Finish Ramona Rough Draft
- Yep! And then some, actually. The story is complete and off to the anthology for which I wrote it.
- Continue Research for Nanowrimo Project
- Yes! I spent another three hours in Portland this weekend at the Oregon Historical Society Research Library.
- Workout/Read 30 minutes a day
- Yes! I worked out five days this week and spent a good chunk of time reading on the two days I didn’t workout. I’m feeling very good about this routine I’ve built.

Sooooo yeah. It was a great week, output-wise. I mean, I wasn’t planning on writing a whole ‘nother short story this month, but ummm… there it is. It basically wrote itself and I had an absolute blast writing it, so I leaned in and got it ready to submit. Also, this story is basically if Shaun of the Dead met Clerks, but make it queer, soooooooo…
I’ve been writing on Thursdays with a Horror writing group on Zoom, and it’s been a nice little additional time to work on writing related things.
Speaking of hanging out with writers, I made it back up to Portland this weekend (thanks to the Spousal Unit) to do more research at the Oregon Historical Society. It was another brain-numbing, three hour session that led to some really cool finds, but not actually that much usable stuff. But, it culminated with dinner with the writing homies and making plans for Norwescon!
If you ask me, that sounds like a banger of a week!

The Newsletter goes out THIS SUNDAY! Have you signed up yet? Newsletters are monthly, and they share links to all the blog posts that month, as well as announcements or updates you might have missed, and it always ends with an exclusive story, just for folks on my mailing list.
Nanowrimo prep started in earnest today (Sunday) with the first meeting/workshop of the Willamette Writers Author Cohort. I’m looking forward to getting to know the other writers better and dedicating some quality writing time with them.
The next episode of Top Shelf Librarians is less than two weeks away! Have you listened to the September episode yet? If not, now is the perfect time. We’ll be recording this weekend, and the October episode will be available on Friday, November 4th!
The workouts continue. I’ve got a great routine going right now, that includes an hour(ish) of Beat Saber, half an hour of pilates, a 45 minute circuit at the gym (the bulk of which is rowing), and then yoga and walking/hiking. I allow myself two days off through the week, but even on those days I’m beginning to feel antsy at the lack of physical activity. I’ve played Beat Saber or done yoga more than once on a scheduled day off. Which is definitely a good thing!
And that’s that. The state of things. I’m coming into the last week of the month with the goal of reading a bunch and disconnecting from the fiction muscle part of my brain as much as possible. Because once November starts it’s pedal to the metal, babeyyyy.
I have several plans for the blog this week, so expect to see me around quite a bit. I have some fun news to share on Tuesday, a new volume of Outings! on Wednesday, and a look at what I’m doing for Nano prep either Friday or Saturday.
Whew… It’s a busy week y’all! But I’ve got this! I’m feeling good, prepared and excited for the challenge ahead. Let’s hope these good vibes can carry me through!
See you soon, Blogland!
