Goals Summary 2022 – Wk #24
June 21, 2022 by B. Zelkovich

“O for a Muse of fire, that would ascend
The brightest heaven of invention,
A kingdom for a stage, princes to act
And monarchs to behold the swelling scene!”

– Henry V Prologue, Shakespeare

It is 5:32am as of the writing of this post. Six minutes ago, Ben Gorman read the entire Prologue of Henry V (this is just the first few lines) to a Zoom room of sleepy-eyed writers to kick off the start of #TheLongestDay.

If you don’t know what that is, check out my post about it or head over to the “Latest” page to see the announcement.

Now lets get to the meat and potatoes of this thing.

Last Week

  • Revise >30 chapters of Something Sulfurous
  • Write >500 words of Victoria
  • Connect with last Beta Reader re: The Finest Creation of an Artful God
  • Keep working on fics
  • Record Podcast Episode

How'd I Do?

  • Revise >30 chapters of Something Sulfurous
    • Lol. No.
  • Write >500 words of Victoria
    • Nope.
  • Connect with last Beta Reader re: The Finest Creation of an Artful God
    • Yes! We had sushi and a very productive conversation about the story that has me ready to revise. It will probably be one of the many projects I work on over the next 15 hours.
  • Keep working on fics
    • Nope.
  • Record Podcast Episode
    • *Laughs until it turns to sobbing*

Weekly Word Count: 0

I don’t really have an answer as to why the week went the way it did. It felt very busy to me, I suppose. There was a giant school event after school on Tuesday that I was apart of, Wednesday was my Critique group meeting, and Thursday was a Staff v. Staff Golf Tournament and that afore mentioned sushi dinner. Friday night was chill, but Saturday was extremely busy with an event for the spouse’s business and the Halsey concert!

Sunday was spent doing more business work, and recuperating. Oh! And it was Father’s Day, so we were out with my father-in-law. And then yesterday I had a 3+ hour meeting at work, and then I slept the majority of my day and played video games (Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy) until it was WAY past my bedtime to prepare for today.

I had to get a little touch of summer vacay in, you know?

So, What's Next?

  • Revise >30 chapters of Something Sulfurous
  • Write >500 words of Victoria
  • Revise and submit The Finest Creation of an Artful God
  • Keep working on fics
  • Record Podcast Episode
Since last week was pretty unproductive, it only makes sense to keep those goals and try again this week. I’m a little nervous about revising Something Sulfurous, just because it’s such a big chunk, so don’t be shocked if that doesn’t get finished this week. But I’m feeling good about Victoria and The Finest Creation of an Artful God. As for the podcast… It’s one of the host’s birthdays this weekend so we’re all getting together. But the odds of us recording? Real low.

Other than a birthday celebration this weekend, I have NO PLANS this week and if feels AMAZING! And, Trevor is out of town to see Weird Al with friends, so I get the weekend to myself??? To do work? And it’s going to be sunny?! And WARM?!

i’m going to wash the car, apply the decals I’ve been sitting on for fucking months while I wait for Oregon to figure out what season it is, and then I’m gonna park my ass on the sunniest patio I can find, drink beer and revise shit.

Doesn’t that just sound sublime? I cannot wait.

In the meantime, if you want to keep up with my progress on today’s challenge (writing for 15+ hours) head on over to twitter for hourly word count updates!

Until next time, Bloggos!
