Hoo boy. It’s been a week. Let’s just jump right in, shall we?
Last Week
- Revise at least 10 chapters of Tavi
- Spend at least 4 hours with Victoria
- Read Things in Jars by Jess Kidd
How'd I Do?
- Revise at least 10 chapters of Tavi
- Yep! The revision process continues to go smoothly and make me very happy. But, we’re quickly approaching the middle, so we’ll see if that holds.
- Spend at least 4 hours with Victoria
- Oh… oh no. I spent about an hour on Victoria this week. I’m having a pretty hard time getting my butt in the chair for this project.
- Read Things in Jars by Jess Kidd
- I mean, I did read it, I just haven’t finished it yet. I’m planning to get some serious reading time in tonight, and might have to finish it on my lunch break tomorrow.
Weekly Word Count: 1,045
So, an all right week? I’m still pretty jazzed about Tavi revisions, and I’m really trying not to beat myself up about Victoria. It’s weird, and each session I do have with it goes decently. I’m just not drawn to it the way I have been other projects. I think because I know how it ends, what with it being a retelling and all. I did spend a pretty healthy chunk of time submitting short stories this week (hurray simultaneous submissions!) and I got to meet my Willamette Writers mentor on Saturday! So, overall I’m pretty happy with where the writing life is at as of right now.
Admittedly, there was a lot of lounging around this week as we were under the weather and awaiting test results (both negative!). We played video games and slept a lot. I’m cool with it. What I’m not cool with is the proposition of returning to work tomorrow. Laaaaaaame.
So, What's Next?
This week I want to:
- Revise at least 10 chapters of Tavi
- With Monday off I’m hoping to get some extra chapters in to take some of the pressure off the last week of the month.
- Spend at least 4 hours with Victoria
- This isn’t a big ask. I’m mad that I haven’t been able to meet this goal yet this month. Hopefully this week can be the one to get this ball rolling!
- Finish reading Things in Jars and read The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik
- I read the first Scholomance book in like two days. I expect the sequel will go just as fast.
All right. That’s the state of things. There’s a Willamette Writers meeting tonight, “Finding the Mystery at the Heart of Your Novel with Kelly Garrett”, so that should be fun. I’m doing laundry and some other household chores. Fingers crossed I get some revisions done and maybe spend a solid chunk of time reading in tonight as well. And that’s it.
Until next time Blogland,
BZ
